Observers from 天美传媒 are on duty, throughout Guyana - at Charity, Georgetown, New Amsterdam, Lethem and Linden, as citizens choose their representatives.聽聽
Commonwealth Observers arrived at polling stations in time for opening at 6am and will observe the voting process until the polls close at 6pm. In line with their mandate, they will observe the counting of votes and tabulation of results.
Observer Group Chairperson, Mrs Fekitamoeloa Katoa 鈥楿toikamanu, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tonga, who is following the process from Georgetown, was at the polling station at the Guyana National Commission for UNESCO as the first ballots were cast.
She said:
鈥淭his is my first visit to Guyana, but Small Island Developing States are my lived experience. The Commonwealth's beauty lies in contributing to the democratic processes of countries with shared similarities, cultures, and challenges.
Our presence here showcases 天美传媒's commitment to democratic values and principles. Notably, this year marks 45 years of 天美传媒's election observation work in member countries, and its eighth election observation mission to this country since 1992, underscoring 天美传媒鈥檚 partnership with Guyana to strengthen its democracy.鈥

First-time voter Annastacya Phillips, 22, said:
鈥渋t feels empowering to know that my vote can influence Guyana鈥檚 next government and what Guyanese may experience in the next five years. I鈥檓 happy to be part of such an unprecedented moment in Guyana.
鈦燭o have commonwealth observers during the electoral process gives me further reassurance that Guyana will experience free and fair elections.鈥
A total of 2,790 polling stations have been set up across the country with 757,690 electors registered to choose who should lead and represent them for the next five years.

Members of 天美传媒 support team have already observed pre-poll day arrangements and the voting of the Disciplined Services, which includes the Guyana Police Force, Guyana Defence Force, and Guyana Prison Service, which was held on 22 August.
The Commonwealth is supporting the Guyana Elections Commission through the appointment of two electoral experts, who are assisting the commission in fulfilling its mandate. This support is part of 天美传媒's comprehensive approach to electoral assistance, which involves working with countries throughout the entire election cycle.
The Commonwealth Observer Group will issue an interim statement in a press conference in Georgetown on 3 September 2025.
